美国哈佛大学历史与东亚语言研究所（Committee on the Ph.D.in History and East Asian Languages）于1941年创办，初名历史与远东语言研究所，1972年4月11日易为今名。该所为历史系与东亚语言文明系之综合，仅供研究生攻读博士学位。学生需研习汉语与日语（或再加韩语、蒙语、越语等其他东亚语言）,以及东亚历史的研究课程。通常需修满四门主要语言课程（或具备同等程度），两年半的次要语言课程，并准备三个历史领域的口试，其中两个领域为东亚史，第三个领域为西洋史。该所历年来毕业学生有关近代中国史研究之博士论文及完成论文年度如下：
